Open Call for Brooklyn Artists!

Hook Arts Media is seeking experimental movers, spoken word artists, musicians, and vocalists for an outdoor visual feast of artistry celebrating the 30th anniversary Red Hook Fest and Brooklyn artists.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to collaborate with renowned choreographer Raphael Xavier on Red Hook Fest’s commissioned version of THE XCOPE.

Raphael is an award-winning artist and alumnus of the world-renowned Hip Hop dance company, Rennie Harris Puremovement. A 2013 Pew Fellowship Grantee, 2016 Guggenheim Fellow, and 2016 United States Artist Fellow, Xavier has been a professional breaker/dancer for the last 20 years, working in a variety of fields including music, photography, and film.

All applicant artists should be available for three 4-hour rehearsals on May 31st, June 1st, and June 2nd as well as all day for a morning rehearsal and afternoon outdoor performances on Saturday, June 3rd. All rehearsals and performances will take place in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Selected artists will each receive a $300 fee for their participation.

There will be 2 performances of THE XCOPE at Coffey Park in Red Hook, Brooklyn on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 between 2 pm and 5 pm.
